Boating in the age of Covid-19

  • September 30, 2020

Ever since the United States initiated the slow re-opening of the country, a COVID-19 Travel Sentiment Report by LuggageHero shows that more than 55% of the Americans have resided domestically for their summer holidays in 2020. This has caused for boat rental services, like our portfolio company Boatsetter, to experience a massive boom in bookings, as they have been quick to develop strategies and follow health- and safety guidelines.

We’ve seen a huge surge in boat rentals,” Jackie Baumgarten, founder and CEO of Boatsetter, told HuffPost. “Without increasing our marketing, Boatsetter recorded our highest ever booking numbers for the month of June. Peer-to-peer rentals were up 74% compared to the same time last year.” (Huff Post, 2020)

Also in an article from USA Today, focus is on how to rent a boat in the age of COVID-19, and what safety concerns one should be aware of. COVID-related guidelines differ from state to state (USA Today, 2020).

Boatsetter does rentals for both experienced and inexperienced captains, why everybody can safely enjoy a day on the water.
